Norway is a cold country. In winter they only have two or three hours of sunshine and they can see northern lights...

At Massana we have asked to our students:

What do you know about Norway and Norwegian people?

Here is a selection of their answers:

Norway is a cold country. In winter they have got only two or three hours of sunshine, and they can see northern lights; in summer they have got the midnight sun. There are a lot of Natural Parks, so the Norwegian live surrounded by nature.

Norwegians eat salmon, wale and cod. They eat a lot for breakfast and for an early dinner, but not at lunch time. Before going to bed they drink a glass of milk with cereals or biscuits. They don’t have olive oil, so they cook with butter. Norwegian drink beer and other alcoholic drinks and eat food rich in carbohydrates to loosen up. They don’t often go outside at nights.

2. People from Norway are quiet and they live in a very cold country, Norwegian people are used to support or deal with very low temperatures. In fact, we think there are six months of summer and six months of winter or without sun.

Life there is very expensive because they pay a lot of taxes, but their quality of life is really high. We have heard the Norwegian government has create a kind of banking reserve from the oil they have so Norwegians could live a lot of years without working.

3. Norwegians are from Norway a northern European Scandinavian country, they speak Norwegian and Oslo is Norway capital city. Norway is not in the Euro zone and Norwegians have a very high economic level, they might earn a lot of money because we know life there is very expensive.

We think the lifestyle there is calm, relaxing and quite good because of the large number of green public spaces around big and small towns and for the government money reserve.

 4. What we know about Norwegian people is that they are very polite and concerned about social rules. Life in Norway is very calm; there are not stressed people there because of their daily contact with the nature. We imagine people living in very big comfortable houses made of wood in the countryside with beautiful green landscapes in summer and white in winter.

The weather in Norway is very cold and there aren’t many hours of sun in the winter, it must be very sad to live there. We think this is the reason people don’t work as many hours as in some other European countries and they arrive home earlier and can enjoy to be at home with the family.

 5. When we think about Norwegian people we imagine a tall person with fair hair and skin; in fact the only famous Norwegian we know, El Rubius, is like that. He is a well known youtuber who came to Spain and since then he has became a role model for many Spanish young people.

We also know a music style called Black Metal is or has been created in Norway and ski, football, hockey and athletics are the most popular sport.
